These beautiful furry friends live in the Arctic. They are fantastic swimmers and they like to eat fish, but there favourite food is seal. They hunt and are protective over their children. Sadly their world is warming up, which could mean they will become even more endangered than they already are. Lets do all we can to keep them out in the cold.
Due to global warming, the ice is melting in the Arctic, which gives the Polar Bears less time to hunt for food. As the earth warms up more and more polar bears are becoming hungry and ill. Polar bear habitats can be found in northern Canada, Greenland, Norway and Russia. There have also been reports that polar bear tracks have been found as far as the north pole. Polar bears breed in late March, April and May. The males actively seek females by following the tracks they leave in the snow. During November and December, the female digs a maternity den in the snow and then the snow snows in to make it cosy! Then the twins are born and they cuddle up in the mothers fur. With about 22,000 Polar Bears living out in the wild, these animals are not critically endangered, but its future is far from certain.
