Who was Doctor Addison?
Thomas Addison was born in 1793 in Longbenton, Northumberland.

He studied medicine at the University of Endinburgh, graduated in 1815.

In 1824, he became assistant physician at Guy's Hospital in London.

He became full physician in 1837.

In 1839, he wrote "Elements of the practice of Medicine" with Richard Bright.

In 1855, he wrote a research paper describing  the condition we now know as "Addison's Disease". At the time, tuberculosis was the primary cause. He also described "Addison's anemia", known today as pernicious anemia.

Addison, by reputation, was an outstanding doctor and teacher. His thorough examinations and uncanny diagnoses were legendary.
