Well-presented and informative. Very interesting to compare procedures for day curve tests around the country as there are clearly many differences.

My sister was diagnosed with addison's diease when she was 13 years old, but had the symptons since 11. Shes is now 36years old and has developed underactive thyroid, problems and severe on going throat infections which she has been told is from the long term use of steroids. I would like to know more about the long term effects of the medication she is on and how this diease will continue to develope.
Glad to have found this site.

Hi, my name is Tracy, and I am searching for diagnosis and treatment for our 16 year old son, who has been chronically ill since November, 2003. Have searched his symptoms and come to the conclusions he either has CFS or Adrenal insufficiency. Awaiting labs to confirm it, or a doctor who is in the know to recognize it and treat him. Nice to be here! ~ Tracy

This is the first time I have visited a web site dedicated to addison@s disease. I was diagnosed in 1995 after a long illness. In February 2005 I was diagnosed with oral Lichen Planus ( another auto immune disease).I am amazed at the number of people that suffer with this disease.
I am 43yrs old, in a good physical state, I work long hours. I have a family of 3 children aged 14, 13 and 4 and a supportive wife.Your web site is fantastic and really beneficial to newly dianosed.
P.S. You look identical to me on family photographs, most people think I am Italian or Asian. I never correct them. Best of luck for the future.

Regards

I have been living with addison's for 13 years now. It is all about your medication. I too gained 40lbs in 6 months but after a few years I joined weight watchers and took the weight off and have kept it off. It has taken me some time to get use to all the medications. I take hydrocortisone, florinif, levothyroxin, and hormone supliments because I have gone through menopause at 29. I now am 43. Every year it seems I need to take something else, I now am B12 deficient and Iron deficient so I need to take suplements for that. I also need to take testosterone every other day. I find my doctor is great at explaining why I need to take more pills as my disease progresses. By taking the medicines I can lead a great life. I exersise daily, have run 25k (have now given up running due to heel spurs)and run a very busy retail store requiring long hours and some stressful situations. When I feel very stressed I take a bit more of my hydrocortisone but prefer to handle the stress by using a time out like going for a walk around the block. I do find that if I take too much hydrocortisone I need to burn off some of the juice or I'll be in a sour mood. I have switched the times I take my meds. I take my second dose around 4pm which really works for me. If some one just met me they would never know I have this illness and I love that. Take heart, there is a hope for a normal life. I have even gone on an extreem vacation to Costa Rica where I went repelling down waterfalls and on long jungle hikes. (much to my families dismay) I just make sure my travelling partner has a list of my meds and try not to worry. Hope this letter can help those of you who feel alone. You will learn to live with the illness but make sure you have an open dialogue with your doctor.

I was very happy to find your website. I have been heavily researching Addison's (and polling some Addisonians) to find out as much as possible. Our 15 year old son has many symptoms that sound adrenal, and has been chronically ill since November 2003. We are still seeking diagnosis and testing for his adrenals. We have a Nov. 2 appointment with an endo who currently sees our 10 year old son, who was just diagnosed with Type I Diabetes last Jan. Thank you for sharing! ~ Tracy

It is a pleasure to meet so much people having a common situation. I had the syndrome of Cushing in 1999 and they had to remove my adrenal glands. In the beginning I was constantly depressed and tired. I felt I was loosing the battle, but since a year of three, everything is going well. I am a father of a beautiful girl and I am married to the most wonderful woman you could imagine. I will be father for the second time. I thank God for this miracle and I want to say to everyone, never give up, everything is possible by hanging on. May God bless you all.

I am 35 years old and was diagnosed when I was 12 with Addisons. Since the medicine, I have been fairly healthy. When I get sick it takes me longer to get better and I am tired a lot, but that is most of the bad. I have 2 healthy children and feel very blessed. It is great to have a site and know that other people have this too. I have never met anyone with my dieaase. I knew it wasn't common because it took them over a year to diagnose me. It was a very tough year. I was in the hospital most of that year and I almost died. Thanks to my family doctor I am writing you today.

I have had Addison's for 30 years. I take 45 mg, 35 am 10 pm, of Hydrocortisone and .1 mg of Florinef. I have been well for most of the 30 years but the 5 years it took to diagnose the disease were hell.

At 58 I am now have some problems with irregular heartbeat and I was wondering if anyone else had had this problem.

we need all the information we can get,and your web site will help. I am concerned about the pills and medication .I sometimes wonder if we infact are used as guinea pigs . I get the impression that some doctors think that one size fits all,....it does not.I have a dauaghter with Addisons and I have Hashimoto disease. I am on Synthroid, and wonder if the drug is causing headaches that I experience every day

I have viewed your website and like what I see. I am 36 years old and was diagnosed with Addison's Disease in August of 2001. I also have Hypothyroidism and I went through menapause at 27. My daughter (age 14) also suffers from Auto-Immune disorders such as diabetes, hypothyroidism and alopecia. We are both suffering from weight gain and would love to hear some good advice on how to lose weight even with low thyroid, addisons, and diabetes stacked against us.
